2008 ARLIS/Southern California Judith A. Hoffberg Travel Award

ARLIS/Southern California chapter would like to announce the 2008 winner of ARLIS/SC’s Judith A. Hoffberg Travel Award. This year’s recipient is Chizu Morihara. Chizu is a Catalog Librarian at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

ARLIS/SC is proud to be able to support Chizu in attending her second ARLIS/NA conference where she will be participating in workshops and sessions, as well as reconnecting with colleagues and her ARLIS/NA mentor. In particular, we were impressed with Chizu’s letter of application in which she clearly articulated her dedication to art librarianship and the importance of being active through chapter participation, leadership, and attendance at local and national meetings. While a student at UCLA, Chizu co-founded ARTiFACTS, a student group involved with information issues related to collections of or about visual arts and artifacts. It was through this association that she became involved with ARLIS/SC. Chizu was chosen because of her record of activity in the local chapter, participating in panel discussions, chapter committees, and discussion groups.

Congratulations to Chizu and we thank all of the applicants who applied for the award this year!
